Eight blinds on the button is 85 hands, 44% of combos: any ace, any pair, any suited king and offsuit kings from K8o, queens from Q5s, a wide broadway block with Q9o, J9o, T9o and T8o, connectors down to 76s.
Push from BTN, 8 BB stack
The button's working rule: if there's an ace in your hand — shove without a second thought, any of the sixteen varieties. King hands take one glance: suited — always a shove, offsuit — from the eight up. Everything else is decided by connectedness and suit.
Against 5 BB only the bottom layer has left (K3o–K7o, J4s, 65s): three extra blinds cost a couple of dozen hands, but the structure of the range is the same. The next step up is pricier: at 10 BB K8o, Q9o and T8o drop out.
The classic mistake at this mark is the "limp with a monster" or a min-raise "for show": at 8 BB any action except the shove either gives your hand away or gifts the blinds a free re-shove. The range isn't wide for decoration — it's wide because the all-in is the only bet that works at this stack.
